It's My Shout 2014

In the summer of 2014, I applied to It's My Shout's new scheme; Talent Pool. I was succesful alongside a fellow classmate, and we then became the costume department for all nine films throughout the summer. Our head of department was Dawn Thomas-Mondo; owner of Marigolds costumes, and industry expert. I was the Costume Designer on four of the films; Jiw Jiws, Orson-Welles Complex, Mountain View and Moving On. My classmate designed the other five films. On the other five films I was the Costume Supervisor on set.

Meetings and training began in June 2014, with filming starting the last week of June up in Bangor, Wales. The filming took place all over Wales, starting in the North, making it's way down to Cardiff where the last film was shot. The last film, Moving On, finished filming on the 26th of August 2014.

As members of Talent Pool, we were responsible for training our costume trainees on set and teaching them about the industry. We worked with our trainees, showing them the role of a costume department member on and off set, and the preparetion work involved for each look and scene.

I thoroughly enjoyed this experience. I met many industry professionals; some I had known from the previous year working as a trainee. Everyone on the Talent Pool scheme became fast friends, and contacts I hope to work with again in the future.

This scheme was paid work.
